The Hydrema DT22 HM combines articulated dump truck capability with a redesigned cab, updated controls and improved diagnostics. The new operator environment brings a 10-inch touchscreen, adjustable armrest controls and a wider cab together with practical improvements to traction, braking and tipping control.
THE CAB
The DT22 HM’s redesigned ROPS/FOPS-approved cab is 200 mm wider at the rear, with a wider entry door and an opening right-hand window. The air-suspended, ventilated driver’s seat includes longitudinal damping, while a ROPS-approved passenger seat provides space for a second person.
A 10-inch touchscreen displays machine information, diagnostics and the rear camera view. The adjustable armrest brings the joystick, keypads, start/stop and parking brake controls within reach. Backlit keypads dim automatically.
The updated climate system distributes air through 12 outlets at roof, front and floor level. DAB radio with Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and central locking with a key fob complete the operator environment.
SAFETY
The DT22 HM combines a ROPS/FOPS-approved cab with a rear camera view on the 10-inch touchscreen. Sixteen LED work lights and three configurable lighting presets help the operator adapt illumination to the task.
The dual-circuit braking system uses two independent, parallel brake pistons, with oil-immersed disc brakes on all six wheels. A brake indicator warns when the brakes are at risk of overheating, and an emergency stop function brings the machine to a controlled stop.
Hill holding helps prevent movement in the wrong direction when the tipping brake is released.
TIPPING — PREVIOUS-GENERATION 922G PICTURED
A dump body angle sensor supports tipping monitoring and an electronic height limit. The operator can set a lift limit to suit the working area.
The Hardox 450 steel body uses double-acting tipping cylinders positioned beneath it for protection. The specified tipping angle is 70°, with tipping times of 7.5 seconds up and 5.5 seconds down.
An exhaust-heated body and hydraulically operated tailgate are available as options.
RETARDER
The DT22 HM combines an engine brake with a proportional hydraulic retarder, providing a maximum combined retarder output of 230 kW (312 hp).
Retarder control is integrated into the first 50% of brake pedal travel, allowing the operator to adjust braking progressively through the pedal.
SERVICE
Machine diagnostics, sensor information and input/output status are available on the 10-inch touchscreen. Electronics are grouped on the right-hand side of the cab with external service access, while fuses and relays can be reached from inside the cab.
Two 95 Ah starting batteries are supported by a separate 25 Ah standby battery for sleep-mode functions, including central locking, the clock and telematics. Fuel-level monitoring remains active during sleep mode to help detect fuel theft.
The 36.5-litre AdBlue tank is positioned alongside the frame.
TRACTION
Wheel-speed sensors on the front axle and rear bogie support the DT22 HM’s updated traction system. Semi-automatic axle differential lock engagement helps the operator manage traction as ground conditions change, while manual engagement of all differential locks remains available.
The suspended front axle has individual level control on each side. Longer stabiliser cylinders increase steering force.
THE HM VARIANT
The DT22 HM is the wide variant in the DT22 Series, combining a 20,000 kg payload with 800/45-30.5 tyres. In this configuration, the specified width over tyres is 3,180 mm and ground pressure at full load is 98 kPa.
These figures apply to the stated HM tyre configuration. Other models in the DT22 Series have their own dimensions, payloads and tyre specifications.

Redesigned Operator Environment
The DT22 HM has a new ROPS cab that is 200 mm wider at the rear, with a wider entry door and an opening right-hand window. The passenger seat includes a seat belt and is covered by the cab’s ROPS certification.
A side-mounted 10-inch touchscreen displays machine data, the rear camera view and diagnostics. The adjustable armrest incorporates the joystick, two keypads, start/stop and parking brake controls. Keypad backlighting dims automatically. The updated air conditioning has three-zone adjustment and roof, front and floor outlets. DAB radio with Bluetooth hands-free operation and central locking complete the new layout.

Fast, Precise and Fully Controlled
The DT22's tipping system is built for speed and precision. The body, constructed from high-tensile Hardox 450 steel, raises in just 7.5 seconds and lowers in 5.5 seconds. Automatic tipping speed adjustment brings engine revs to 2,000 rpm, and the automatic tipping brake engages below 1 km/h for safe, controlled unloading. The auto-raise/lower function combined with the electronic multi-joystick delivers smooth starts and stops throughout the cycle.
Proportional Retarder Control
The DT22 HM retarder is operated proportionally through the first 50% of brake pedal travel, replacing the previous joystick-operated arrangement.
Service Access and On-board Diagnostics
The DT22 HM has a 36.5-litre AdBlue tank relocated alongside the frame. Electronics are grouped on the right-hand side of the cab with external service access. Fuses and relays are accessible from inside the cab, and the 10-inch touchscreen displays sensor information and input/output diagnostics.

Cummins B6.7 Stage V
The DT22 HM is powered by a Cummins B6.7 6-cylinder Stage V engine delivering 231 kW (314 hp) at 2,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 1,288 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The engine is retained from the previous generation, with an updated engine control module incorporating cybersecurity enhancements.
Updated Transmission Control
The DT22 HM retains its automatic transmission with an updated transmission control unit using EC4 control. The transmission-mounted dog clutch is retained, and manual engagement of all differential locks remains possible.
Updated Traction and Suspension
The DT22 HM adds wheel speed sensors to the front axle and bogie, an optimised front differential lock and a bogie differential lock. Semi-automatic axle differential engagement can operate without engaging the longitudinal transmission lock. Manual engagement of all locks remains available.
Piston accumulators replace the previous diaphragm accumulators in the suspension system. Longer steering cylinders at the articulation provide increased steering force.
